In Finnish the people are called the Kansa:
The sculpture series Kansa consists of Sirpa Masalins human forms which are a reflection of us all:
women, men, children. She designed them with wood and rusty wire. The colours differ, to represent the variety of peoples
in different continents.
A world wide community:
They are about to begin their journey out into the world to bring people together.
No matter what their language, origin, political beliefs, religion or skin colour. We want to spread the Kansa
people throughout the world in order to unite us all. We want to use art to draw attention to the most important
aspects of our future: peace, freedom, awareness for the environment, pure foods without genetic modification,
respect for human rights, freedom of speech and self-determination.
Wooden Sculptures and High Tech:
The sculptures are numbered. They also carry an invisible
RFID chip with a unique number in their bodies.
This RFID number which is referenced at the individual Kansa's web page can be used to verify the individual sculpture as the original one.
Tracing Kansa at the Internet:
Buyers are asked to register the location of their sculpture here at the individual website of his sculpture (accessible from the selection area at the right side).
Individual traits of the people are listed there and
their locations displayed in Google Maps.
This will result in a living work of New Media Art by Hans-Ulrich Goller-Masalin, with the individual sculptures acting
as symbols of peoples living in harmony with one another, their traces recorded on the Internet.
The earth unites humanity, not the borders of our countries.
